The E911 Management page lets you create emergency service locations and assign them to your DIDs so that 911 calls are routed with the correct address.
Where to go: E911 Management from the nav menu
What you’ll need: Service address, DIDs for 911 calls, and a contact name/number for callbacks
Guided Walkthrough
Step 1: Add a New E911 Location
- Click Add Endpoint.
- Enter the full service address, including Suite/Apt/Unit if applicable.
- Add an End-User/Business Name and Callback Number.
- Click Save. The new location will appear in the list and be available for assignment.
Pro Tip: Use USPS-style abbreviations (e.g., ST, AVE, APT) and match the customer’s legal address to avoid validation issues.
Step 2: Assign DIDs to a Location
- Open the Manage DIDs section. (My Voice Network > Manage DIDs)
- Search for and select one or more numbers.
- Click the Pencil icon to edit the DID(s)
- Click Save. The numbers will now be tied to that location.
Note: A DID should be assigned to exactly one emergency location at a time.
Step 3: Verify and Test (Non-Emergency)
- Place a 933 test call to hear the read-back of the address and callback number.
- If details are incorrect, update the location and test again.
Important: Do not place live 911 test calls unless instructed by your local PSAP.
Update or Remove a Location
- Edit a location to update the address, unit, or callback information. Changes apply to all assigned DIDs.
- Reassign DIDs before deleting a location. Removing a location in use may cause failed emergency calls.
Common Questions & Troubleshooting
- Address won’t validate → Confirm Suite/Apt info, use CSR/billing address, and standardize abbreviations.
- Wrong address on 933 → Save edits, allow time for propagation, then retest.
- New numbers → After purchase or porting, assign E911i information before going live.
What’s Next
- Configure DID Routing to ensure inbound calls reach the correct trunk.
- After a port completes, re-check E911 assignments for the moved numbers.
- Update CNAM/Messaging as needed for end users.
